Nancy Faeser ([ˈfɛːzɐ]; * 13 July 1970 in Bad Soden) is a German lawyer and politician (SPD). She has been chairwoman of the SPD Hesse since November 2, 2019, and since December 8, 2021, she is the first woman to hold this office, Federal Minister of the Interior and for Home Affairs in the Scholz cabinet. From 2003 until her appointment as federal minister, she was a member of the Hesse state parliament and from 2019, chairwoman of the Hesse SPD parliamentary group and thus also leader of the opposition.
